Coordinating Your Exam

A NARI Certification staff member will reach out to you one month prior to the start of the exam period to confirm that you wish to test during the upcoming exam period and to arrange examination logistics.

What you need to do:

  • You must reply to the e-mail from NARI Certification staff to confirm you wish to test during the upcoming exam period.
  • If you do not reply to confirm, we will not be able to coordinate an exam for you.

After you have confirmed you wish to test during the upcoming exam period, you will receive an e-mail from NARI Certification staff on the week prior to the start of the exam period providing you with your exam link and further instructions for taking your exam.

You can take your exam any time, day or night, during the two week testing period. You do not need to schedule a specific day or time to take your exam. You will simply click on your exam link when you are ready to begin taking your exam and follow the prompts.

You may not take your exam before or after the two-week examination period window.

You can take your exam a total of three times.

Your first exam is included in the certification fee you paid at the time of enrollment in your chosen program. If you have to retake the exam, a $50 retest fee will apply.

The NARI Certification Board will make reasonable efforts to accommodate eligible candidates who require special arrangements to take the exam.

Candidates who request special accommodations must make their request in writing at least 60 days in advance of the test date.

Documentation should be in the form of a letter on the official letterhead of a licensed or certified professional qualified to diagnose and treat special conditions. A description of the special accommodation(s) requested should be included.

Your request, with the supporting documentation, will be reviewed to determine if the accommodation will be granted. If approved, you and your exam proctor will be notified.

The special accommodations and auxiliary aids and services must not present an undue burden to the NARI Certification Board and must not fundamentally alter the measurement of the knowledge the exam is intended to test.

The test is designed to distinguish those who have the basic level of knowledge from those who do not. There is no evidence that someone who receives a very high score on the test will perform significantly better on the job than someone whose score falls exactly at the passing point. Therefore, if you pass the test, you will be informed only that you have successfully completed the credentialing process. You will NOT be notified of your actual score. Your completed exam will not be returned to you for review or comment.

If you do not achieve a passing score, you will be notified of that fact and will receive a report showing your pass/fail performance in each content area. This information is provided to assist you in deciding whether to retake the test and how to plan your study efforts for future tests.

You will NOT receive information about individual exam questions you answered incorrectly.

You will be notified of your exam results within 30 days of the end of the exam period.

We understand that certification candidates are anxious to know whether they passed their exam, so we work hard to get you your exam results much earlier than the allotted 30 days.
